Well i woudl have put this under v8 but then v6 people have the pully sets too so i figured i would post it here. I have pretty much decided i am goign to get some steeda pullies so i was wondering how hard they are to install and what diffrance i would see with them. I hear it messes with your charging system due to the alternator pullie is this correct? Also what kinda cerpintine belt would you guys put on? I got a new one but does this gator back do any better than normal ones or what? TIA

I believe that pullies casue your accessories to spin a litle bit slower. This would give you a bit more HP b/c your accossories arent taking as much power. You should see a little bit in terms of HP (5ish at the rear). The Gatorback belt will help becuase they are designed to not slip better than the OEM designed belt. Installing them shouldn't be too hard, just be sure to follow the directions.

You will loose some power, but not enough to effect anything unless you have a very large system in your car. If you are worried you can get a more powerful alternator.

Pullies are good for 10-12 peak power. Your waterpump is quite a drag at high rpms, hence the big benefit of a constant rpm electric pump. Some experience cooling and charging problems with underdrives. I run the stock alternator pulley with underdrive crank and waterpump pullies and I still have charging issues at idle. That's with my engine idle rpm set to almost 900 (big cam). I don't have cooling issues though. Alternator pullies will usually require an impact gun.

I have an impact gun, so is this mod worth the cash or spend it elsewhere? sounds like ya pick up a small 5 hp but have to make sure everything else works right. does not seem worth it to me

Hmmm, say 10hp, maybe more because of the rev happy nature of your motor. even so, when taken with the 5hp for a K&N, and whatever tiny mods you've accumulated, it becomes measurable. If I took off every part that only added a few hp, I'd be back to stock. It all works together as a system. But them just for the sake of making your accessories last longer by spinning slower.

good point. I was meaning the price does not seem worth it due to the fact that they are like 200 bucks and for that 200 bucks i could pick up a midpipe or something. Just trying to get the feel of which way to go next with my car.

I'd buy the exhaust first, get your car breathing as good as it can on the intake and exhaust sides so that either your heads or intake become the bottleneck. I haven't studied too much on the modulars as I never plan on owning one, I'm a pushrod fan myself. I'm guessing for your engine, I'd do full exhaust, then MAf and throttlebody, then save for a Vortech kit.

I would just get the gears. You can get them for that $200 plus install & take off up to 5 tenths.

I agree.. Exhaust and cold air kit should always be the first mods!
