A comparo review between the GTO and 03 Cobra made the GTO the better car in all areas except performance...
Now we know what a new review would say...
Damn that's one nice beast for 33 grand!

"Tax, title, license, dealer fees, $1,300 gas guzzler tax and optional equipment are extra. Gas guzzler tax is required only with automatic transmission."
hahaha....damn...shitty gas mileage, but then again it's a 6.0L LS2.
If I ever got one I doubt it would be an automatic, though.

hehe, it was pretty plain looking... my fiancee's brother said it looked like an overweight Civic.
This one looks sweet tho... Not much changed, but the little they changed makes a world of difference.

It's weird how Ford gave up on pushrod power to go to the modular motors. All in the name of tech and emissions. Wish they would have spent the time and money developing badass 302/351 parts instead. Chevy is still getting by with pushrod power. For the money, I'd still go with an itsy bitsy 281cubed 03/04 Cobra.

Do you really know Mustangs?
3.55bore 3.54stroke 4604cc = 280.9533178121474353184 cubic inches, that's 281 ;)

i think the SVT designers are going to jump off a friggin building now...
06 cobra BETTER be 500+ and the 07 shelby better be 600+ and be a featherlight

on the other note... ford KNOWS they can do it.. take the Ford GT for example.. that's a 200MPH car...
it always confuses me why ford's #1 sportscar (for the price) has to lose in all head to head performance aspects now :(

V10 Cobra? Tons of torque and free breathing heads based on the '00 R heads would be so badass. They've built one already for that Retro Shelby Cobra, it was tested in the same Mustang that carried the 00 R engine around for testing. Not to mention the exhaust note on the V10 is just plain sweet sounding.

I have a 454cu/in motor in my boat with water jacketed headers and thru-hull exhaust... BEST SOUND EVER. Especially when it starts... the starter sounds like it's dying cause of the 12.5:1 comp. ratio and then it kicks over.. it pegs to 4 grand for a second then idles @ 1800
this is all in a 22' Sea Ray Bowrider that was my dad's old boat. He got a new one and let me take this one

dont gett to excited yet you guys, there rumors that GM performance parts might be dropping the LS7 motor into the GTO and call it the Judge. if they do it right, it be a two door with only a 6spd. hmm 500hp in a gto that eqauls copo cars. and the best thing, 6.0L badge will still remain.lol i want the judge. and the new camaro is gonna be 425hp(z28 and ss). gm is making a return! ford better get it in gear really quick, they got a great platform but not the right motor. i say ford needs a boss mustang with an old school 5.0 pushrod making 450hp that would kick ass!

Don't think a 302 is gonna do it, hit the 450hp mark that is. a 351 based smallblock would be able to though. Remember, it's got to have driving Miss Daisy street manners to be a production car. A 302 making 450hp would be a high compression, big ass cammed, snarling monster that would need to rev to 8 grand. That's not easy to do with even the current crop of aftermarket parts. No problem for a 347/351 or better yet a 393.
However, I may as well go piss up a rope, Ford will never go back to the pushrod 5.0...

do not expect a 500 hp machine from ford. do you really think they could sell it cheaper than 40k? i mean the mystic cobra was a lil over that, but no way will a 500 hp machine be cheap in price, in any color.
on top of that, why would the sell the GT40 for 150K+ then if the mustang were too put out the same numbers?

You can blow anything and make high hp, the problem is how fast you have to spin the itsy-bitsy 281 to get it to make the numbers. Torque is what moves your car from a stop, not big hp numbers at 7500rpm. 281 cubes in n/a form will never make great big torque numbers unfortunately.
