I want to put some black racing stripes on my 99 white v6. Where is a good place to purchase some, and then have them put on?

I am going for the black/white look. So here are the plans for that.

Racing Stripes (Vinyl)
Mustang Letters on back of the stang in black
Dark Tinted Windows
Mach 1 Grill Delete
Mach 1 Chin Spoiler
Black Emblems.. Etc

And for people that arn't absolutly certian whether they want to keep the stripes. One of my friends is going to get some vinyl ones until he is certian.

You could let Cody paint them on for you, then if you don't like it, you can just peel his paint off...

:thumpupn: That just slays me!

j/k Cody, you got that bumper finished yet?

Do it already! It only takes 2 hours...

I was looking more at your car, and I don't think I'd do stripes. Ever considered doing a blackout hood and spoiler, flat black, muscle car style? I don't know if it'd look really good, or like you trashed your old hood and were too cheap to paint the new one...

I might look for some checkered flag based vinyls for the sides too.

Laugh it up smartass. Come back when you peel away $200 worth of paint and we'll see if you still think it's funny.

And no, I don't have them redone yet. I'm in the process of building a paint room in our shop. I thought I would finish that, so that I can bake the paint rather than have to wait.

I was just kidding. Why be so damn thin skinned? You think $200 wasted is a big deal? You obviously haven't ventured out too many times in your young life...

I'll share with you a few things about painting...You HAVE to use a tie coat whenever you paint plastic or urethane body parts. The tiniest bit of research or even intuition should have told you that. No manufacturer I know of is going to recommend a thick film build on the color coat, so when you do repaint it, try to put only as much color as is required to get coverage, not enough to cover all the dirt and dust nibs. Good luck on round two, btw, my website has some pics of a paint booth in a garage if you need any ideas.

I was just kidding as well. :thumpupn: See, the primer that I was using is an adhession promoter but for a different base. I know because I used in on my poly speedster covers. I have the right stuff for this project though now.

The paint booth is finished as far as construction goes. Its an updraft chamber with four banks of heatlamps and an omni directional lighting settup to prevent shadows. I'm actually impressed with it. I only wish it wasn't so cold so I could use it. With all of the lights on, It can only sustain a temp of 52deg, which isn't so bad concidering that it is in the teens here. So it looks like I won't be painting until spring. lol. I would have some pics to share but my cam battery is dead.

Okay, I read too much into the "smartass"...

Nice idea with the lights in the booth. I got burned on round one when I got the car into the light only to see some primer peeking through my color coat. Couldn't tell in the garage, but the sun shows all. See, I know exactly what you mean about wasted materials and cash. :)

Ya, I was kinda worried about that with such a small room, (8x8) but concidering that I will probably only be working on small stuff like my spats and such, I'm not too worried about it. If I ever get a hood or something I can just bake it with the hood on the back wall that doesn't have any lamps and let the ambient heat bake it.

Nah, racing stripes wouldn't look good on the stang. Go w/ what we originally told ya.
