What is the difference in 3.73 and 4.10 gears as far as performance, gas mileage ect.....?

it depends on how u drive ur car. if u drive on the highway a lot u should go with the 3.73 gears, but if you want it to b a street/strip car and dont plan on doing a lot of highway driving than go with the 4.10s. u should gain gas mileage in the city with either 3.73s or 4.10s but will also lose gas mileage on the highway with either.

if u go with the 4.10s and drive on the highway a lot ur rpms are going to b worse than they would b with the 3.73s. the 4.10s shoulld give u a little better jump off the line.

if your runing a loud exhaust and do alot of highway driving you may grow to hate 4.10's, id go 3.55 or 3.73 but thats me.

i would personally recommend going with the 3.73s since u went with the exhaust setup that is on ur mods page site. the combination of the h-pipe, catback and the higher rpms(if u went with the 4.10s) will get annoying if u do a lot of highway driving.

id go with the 3.73's. Thats what I got and im glad i didnt get the 4.10's since i do a lot of driving across the state. the 3.73s are a good choice for you. the 4.10's would only benifit you on the track really.

I would have suggested the 4.10's, especially for a mod motor car.

You gotta ask yourself...Did I buy the Mustang as a performance car, or as a gas saver?

Agreed, but the difference in gas mileage between the 3.73 and 4.10 is negligible in a mod motor, so that isn't an excuse anymore. With a pushrod engine, it makes a hell of a difference, but this isn't the case.

I have 4.10s in my 01 vert and get 25 or so on hwy, it's a mustang, not a prius.:)

I just went from 3:55 to 3:73 and only saw a loss of about 2 miles per gallon .. not really a big deal as far far as I'm comcerned but I love the launch difference .. It was recommended to change my speedo gear too to keep the speedometer correct .. I think on my S197 it was like a $15 part but it might keep the cops from giving you a piece of paper

There really not a whole lot of difference in performance or mpg. I'd go 4.10 ESPECIALLY in a V6.
